The Story
Born from Real Experience
The Problem We Knew Too Well
Slice of Advice was born from firsthand experience with the challenges of coaching. As a full-time skydiving instructor and coach across multiple sports, I lived the reality that many coaches face: scheduling conflicts, weather cancellations, off-season income gaps, and the constant logistical barriers that prevent talented coaches from making a sustainable living.
The Opportunity We Saw
Years later, working as a software developer, I recognized how technology could solve these problems. What if coaches could share their expertise beyond geographical limitations? What if students could access world-class coaching without waiting for the right season, weather, or coordinating complex schedules?
The Solution We Built
Slice of Advice enables micro-coaching - focused, targeted guidance when you need it most. Students get specific answers to their questions from expert coaches. Coaches earn income on their schedule, reaching students they'd never connect with otherwise. All through a simple web platform that works anywhere.
Why It Matters to Me
As a BASE jumper, I understand both sides deeply. I've been the coach struggling to make ends meet, and I'm the athlete who needs expert guidance but can't always access the right coach at the right time. This isn't just a business - it's solving a problem I've lived and continue to experience.
Meet the Founder
Louis Harwood
Former full-time skydiving instructor and multi-sport coach turned software developer. I spent years coaching skydiving and other sports, experiencing firsthand the challenges that prevent talented coaches from making a sustainable living.
Now a BASE jumper and developer, I built Slice of Advice to solve the problems I lived as a coach and continue to face as an athlete seeking expert guidance. This platform represents the intersection of my coaching experience, technical expertise, and passion for making sports coaching more accessible and sustainable.
When I'm not building the platform, you'll find me jumping off cliffs or helping other coaches discover how technology can transform their coaching business.
